Great Outdoors 1 - 2012
9th-12th
This 7 day camp is definitely packed full of adventure. The main purpose is to unite as a family, to grow mentally, emotionally, and most importantly spiritually. Come fly with us 40 feet off the ground as we tackle the high ropes course. Brave the rapids as we conquer our whitewater rafting trip. Crawl with us miles underground as we go caving. Did I mention rappelling? Night Zip line, Climbing, low elements, and much more! You will become one with Christ through devotions, worship, praise and prayer. Remember, only through Him are we able. This is not a camp for the weak at heart, but not because of all the activities. Ask yourself, “Am I up to Christ’s personal challenge for me?” If you answer yes, then we’ll see you at Great Outdoors! This year our Great Outdoors 3 will be an all girls camp; however 1 & 2 will remain co-ed.
Dates: Jun 17 - Jun 23
Cost: $400
Dean: Rev. Adam Potter
Since 2001, Adam Potter has served in ministry at State Street United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Youth Minister for six years, he has served that congregation as Associate Pastor & Minister of Discipleship for the last five. Adam leads the modern worship service at State Street and oversees both the college and young adult ministries as well. He is dedicated to mission outreach, planning several international trips each year and supervising the church’s local efforts.
Adam Potter began his relationship with Camp Loucon in May of 1996 as summer staff. He served in that capacity for a total of four summers as chaplain, adventure leader, musician, etc. For the last 17 years, Adam has been involved in the ministry of camp in numerous ways; whether with work teams, retreat groups, or as a dean and counselor. He has served multiple terms as a member of the Loucon Committee helping to secure the possibilities of ministry at Camp Loucon for generations yet to come.
This year marks the 15th year for Great Outdoors which Adam launched back in 1998. In that time, he has had the privilege to help nurture and witness to over 250 campers. “It’s hard to believe,” Potter says, “God continues to bless me with amazing young people every year. This camp is truly special.” Youth come to Great Outdoors as individuals but leave as a part of something bigger than themselves … family. “That’s what I emphasize. My camp is a family. We grow together every day in so many ways. It’s a simple example of our greater calling as Christ followers – one body, one church, and one family.”
