A summer at Loucon is both demanding and rewarding.  Through long days and long nights, one learns what it is to have a servant’s heart.  With Christ at the center of every activity, task, job, or chore, the opportunities for growth are endless.  Not only will one have the opportunity to grow personally, but he/she will also have the opportunity to grow in Christian community with the fellow staff members.  With a focus on service to every camper and volunteer as well as each other, it is our prayer that everyone who enters the gates of Loucon will grow in their relationship with Christ.

Opportunities & Applications

One can serve at Loucon in many different capacities.  We normally hire 25 summer staff, 6-8 Staff In Training (S.I.T.), 2-4 Staff Counselors, and 1-2 Maintenance S.I.T.’s.  Each position is different, but an important piece of the puzzle that makes up the Loucon Staff.

Applications can be downloaded in PDF format.  All applications are due by March 1.  An interview weekend retreat  will be held for all applicants March 22-24, 2013. You will have the opportunity to lead activities, devotions, worships, etc. as a team during the weekend. This is a great opportunity to get to know a great group of Christians, to get an understanding of our ministry, and to determine if this is where God is calling you to serve this summer. A decision regarding our decision will be made by April 10.

Training

All Loucon summer employees will be required to attend a week long Staff Orientation which will be held the week before our summer camping program begins.  This orientation will prepare the staff for the upcoming summer as well as get everyone certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

In addition to the orientation, Loucon will hold optional training weekends or weekdays in May for our adventure activities.  During these weekend trainings, staff members will learn how to lead and facilitate activities such as high ropes, climbing, rappelling, low elements, zipline, and teambuilding. The more trainings you attend the more opportunities you'll have to do a variety of things throughout the summer! There is also a week long training that Signature Research will provide during the last week of April for anyone able to attend...an amazing opportunity!

Internships

A summer at Loucon is also a great way to earn some credit hours.  If one is looking for an internship for school, this might be the perfect place.  We have fulfilled requirements for those in the fields of Parks & Recreation and Christian Ministries.  Check with you advisor to see if Loucon can meet your requirements.
