Kittinger Cottage Nears Completion

Construction on Loucon’s latest building project began in 2008, and despite heavy delays due to the Ice Storm, the Kittinger Cottage is nearly complete!

Originally envisioned by Loucon Director Warren Hopper, the Kittinger Cottage is a project years in the making. The cottage will serve as a place for pastors and their families within the Kentucky United Methodist Church to rest, reflect, repent, study, and be alone with God—a place where pastors can be fed so that they can feed God’s sheep.

The cottage is built to honor Reverend Herb Kittinger, who was an important part of Loucon’s ministry in the years following his retirement in 1992. Rev. Kittinger served as Interim Director twice, a committee chair for three years, a committee member for eight years, and as a frequent volunteer. He was also responsible for bringing many volunteers from State Street United Methodist Church for New Song and various work projects around camp. During all these duties at Loucon, Rev. Kittinger continued to serve as the Minister of Visitation at State Street.

It is Loucon’s hope that the Kittinger Cottage will impact the spiritual life of our conference as Herb did throughout his personal ministry! If you would like to make a financial contribution to the completion and furnishing of Kittinger Cottage, please contact Warren at
