Why Camp? Why Parents Should Consider Christian Camping

This year our camp staff listened to a TED talk by Simon Sinek when he discusses how great leaders inspire people to action. It was only an 18 minute video; however it was helpful. It made us realize that lots of our time is spent telling people what we offer…summer camp, retreats, activities, etc. A lot of other energy is spent on telling people how we do things…through community, through facilitation, through sharing, etc. We realized that we don’t communicate why we do this near enough.

So, the first thing we did was to begin asking others why camp. It was interesting because most of the responses had nothing to do with activities, facilities, or even how much fun they have at camp. Their responses were more about the impact and the experience. Here’s some of the answers we received;

As we’ve explored through conversations, Facebook posts, and personal experiences here is why Camp Loucon exists;

I am sure we are just beginning to scratch the surface of why camp & retreat ministry exists and why sending our children to Camp Loucon or other Christian Camping experiences is important. Here’s how we sum up our purpose;

Loucon desires that every camper who enters our gates would know God and experience the life He has for them. We do not exist to produce more campers rather we exist to make disciples who will lead us in the transformation of the world with Jesus!

So, we’re really here to transform the world! We do this by introducing people to the creator, by helping them grow in Christian community, and sending them out in the world. Our staff strive to share the love and message of Jesus with each individual camper who attends.

Our ministry is God-centered, neighbor focused, and growth driven. We simply want to honor God by following his greatest commandments…”Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and prophets rest on these two commands” Matthew 22:37-40.

Now…if you desire that those in your life know God and that they experience the life God intends for them then you need to get them signed up for Christian Camping! Loucon’s online registration is live at WWW.LOUCON.ORG. There are camps for children from the 2nd-12th grade. We are preparing for their arrival right now!
